Basketry

Create this beautiful and useful holiday serving tray with willow! The finished tray can be used to serve hors d'oeuvres or hung up as a rustic holiday piece of art. No previous experience necessary. Students should bring an apron they don't mind getting dirty, sharp sturdy scissors and/or small handheld pruning shears. 

You loved the sample on display last year. Here's your chance to learn how to cut, prepare, and weave willow! In this class you will learn to weave a small willow basket as a decorative center piece, Easter basket, or useful carrying basket. No experience necessary. Students should bring an apron they don't mind getting dirty, sharp sturdy scissors and/or small handheld pruning shears. 

This basket will feature weaving on a wooden slotted base, 4-rod wale, continuous twill weave and a sawtooth border.  It really looks and sounds harder than it is, and lends a challenge to anyone who is ready to go beyond the beginner stage... hence the "Intermediate" weaver.  The kit for this class will include all materials to complete the project.  There will be at least 2 color choices, with colors depending on the availability of dyed reed.  Size of the completed basket is 10" diameter X 8-1/2" H
